Further safety concerns at Meadow Court Drive - 18/10/01

I e-mailed the council twice last week expressing my concerns over the bollards newly installed on the cyclepath at Meadow Court Drive. On both occasions I was informed that my e-mail had been forwarded to the Cycling Officer. I have received no further response.

Despite this, I must report two new safety concerns.

Firstly, the remaining bollard lamp has now been vandalised. There are now two unlit black bollards in the centre of the cyclepath.

Secondly, the traffic cones were mostly removed on Wednesday (two bases remain). This was in part a good thing, as the cones were themselves becoming increasingly hazardous to cyclists as they were repositioned by children. However, it left the damaged section of cyclepath unmarked. Today (Thursday), that section of the path surface has been fenced off. This is still not acceptable. The cyclepath has been damaged by your contractors and must be repaired. Simply fencing off the damaged area results in a dangerous narrowing of the cyclepath.
