Snail Mail - 05/12/01

Dear Mr Colyer

Thank you for your recent letter

In relation to Mr Burton, I did write to him following receipt of an E mail he sent to a number of councillors. I explained to him that there is no procedure to deal with this sort of complaint and suggested that he wrote to Neil Halsall, as leader of the political group of which Pat Hockey is a member, and to the Chief Executive of the Council. I further suggested that if he did not receive satisfaction from these approaches, he might consider addressing the Council during public access time. As you know, Mr Burton followed this course of action and the Council agreed at the end of his submission that the Chief Executive should investigate the matter. I believe that nothing further can happen until this investigation is completed.

Regarding the E mails about the crossing at Meadowcourt Drive, I have to admit that I thought that both yourself and officers were copying E mails between yourselves to a number of other people to keep them abreast of the dialogue over the new bollards. As you will appreciate, Meadowcourt Drive is not in the area I represent on the council and I would suggest that if you wish to pursue that specific matter further, you do so with either the Executive member (Pat Hockey) or the councillors for Oldland Common (Alan Greenfield and Marc Scawen).

Yours sincerely

Roger Coales

I understand that you also wrote to one of my colleagues, Councillor John Hunt. Would you please accept this letter as a reply from us both.
